Manitoba has taken a huge step in helping its residents reconnect with their loved ones during the pandemic by collaborating with PCL Constructors Canada Inc. to invest $17.9 million for construction of all-season shelters at personal care homes. Minister Cameron Friesen and Central Services Minister Reg Helwer are providing this opportunity, allowing individuals to safely meet up and make cherished memories together!... A total of 90 visitation shelters will be constructed from recycled, single-use shipping containers to form a fully completed visiting facility. Outfitted with electrical systems and heating/cooling units, these spaces will offer a secure area for visitors even during the harsh climates of winter or summer. Every unit contains an enclosed chamber that can accommodate one resident and up to five visitors simultaneously whereby guests enter through the outside entrance while residents have direct access from within their personal care home via an internal pathway.
