Who would have thought that this beautiful contemporary home was made from two industrial storage containers used at the Port of Savannah in Georgia? Not only is it stunning, but many of its interior elements are sourced from salvaged materials that were destined for the dump! This magnificent structure speaks to the power and potential of upcycling. Yet, this 970-square-foot edifice stands as an affirmation that luxurious living doesn’t have to be expensive. It was envisioned by artist Julio Garcia of the Miami fabrication studio Price Street Projects after six months of research and development.... They were able to acquire two shipping containers through a port worker which they cleverly repurposed into this one-of-a-kind space. He described the most strenuous part of the project as figuring out how to transport these mammoth containers onto a lush, one-acre plot without damaging its beauty. To ensure no damage was done during delivery and placement, two weeks were invested in meticulously maneuvering them into place. Leaving the exterior in its original form, this structure boasts an industrial aesthetic highlighted by a striking deep blue hue. Don’t let that rustic façade deceive you though – sunlight beams through floor-to-ceiling windows and white double doors open onto a finished 600 square feet of decking for both indoor and outdoor use. Garcia stated that they wanted to make sure it could be used not only indoors but outdoors as well.
