In April 2021, Joshua and Courtney Booth, who are a couple and also developers, began building Stacks at Wilson on the Westside of Atlanta. The Booths were confident they had a successful sale when 70 potential buyers attended their weekend open house and they received four offers exceeding the asking price on the first day. The house was eventually sold for $349,000, an amount that surpassed the initial asking price of $21,000. According to Joshua, this demonstrated that homebuyers were willing to think outside the box and consider unconventional living arrangements, such as moving into shipping container homes in Atlanta GA.
These boxes are not typical as they are two 40-foot shipping containers merged for a bigger number of square feet for living spaces. The exterior design combines mid-century modern style with a trailer park vibe, while the interior finishes are comparable to those found in luxurious homes or condos in Midtown or Buckhead.

Joshua said that they were interested in building a community of tiny home projects. To achieve this, they researched and explored how they could make use of non-traditional materials. Their search eventually led them to consider using shipping containers.
The couple found affordable and available land to build their dream home in the Dixie Hills neighborhood, which is located on the Westside near the historic Westview Cemetery. They have partnered with Team Trilogy, a realty firm from Compass, to promote the shipping container houses at Stacks at Wilson.

How does the home being green work? Well, the steel construction of the containers makes them highly durable. Additionally, special double insulation reduces the cost of heating and cooling. The house’s complete electrical systems and LED lighting support eco-friendliness. Despite metal attracting heat, the electric bill is not high in summer, as Courtney mentioned.
The shipping container home builders are in discussions with vendors to incorporate solar energy and rainwater retention methods into the construction of the next four homes for increased sustainability. The permit process has already begun for the following home, which will be constructed using eight shipping containers.

Concrete Roots Group (CRG), which is owned by the Booth family, is not only involved in real estate development, but also supports various charitable organizations that work towards youth development, job creation, community restoration, and sustainability.

According to Courtney, the Active Youth Academy program of CRG Foundation is assisting K-12 students in exploring philanthropy and entrepreneurship to broaden their prospects, whereas another program is aiding homeless individuals and former inmates in acquiring a construction trade skill to reestablish their self-reliance.
