Travis Sheridan, of Venture Cafe Global Institute, has had quite an entertaining time since he moved into his new abode—the doorbell camera catching a multitude of people trying to sneakily peek inside. On May 11th, St. Louisans and any other curious individuals will have the exclusive chance to witness what lies behind those doors with an Old North House and Community Tour.
People can’t help but be fascinated by Smithey’s container home, which was co-created by Sheridan and Zack and is situated in St. Louis.... When they were constructing the container house, Sheridan says they had the intention of having it on a tour. Not only did this give them an opportunity to show what’s achievable in St. Louis and North St. Louis alike, but also dismiss any false impressions that people may have about North St. Louis as well! After all, what better way to showcase their art than by inviting 300 strangers into your home? It is certainly something they enjoy doing too!
The art of this house is prevalent, mainly from local artists in St. Louis and Fresno, California. A 15-panel piece from Firecracker Press – depicting a vibrantly colored solar system – hangs on the foyer wall and was used as inspiration for the home’s interior color palette. You can also find two custom floating walls that act as gallery spaces for additional artwork pieces throughout the home’s design journey.

The Sandbox will be a seasonal concession stand for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. It will be located next to the sand volleyball courts (hence the name) adjacent to the Missouri Rush Soccer Club fields.
Llywelyn’s primary restaurant, currently under construction, will be located directly across from the Sandbox. The shipping container bar will help support and entertain the sand volleyball and soccer venues within the sports complex. The Sandbox took six weeks to modify. It has been outfitted with three custom-made canopies as well as awnings. Each concession window has a retractable countertop. This modified shipping container bar and restaurant have been painted and branded, and exterior lighting has been installed.... This unit has a steel 3/0 man door on the exterior, and all-electric components have been installed in plain view. Inside you will find beverage coolers and beer taps to get your party going, as well as wall monitors for entertainment. It is clear that North St. Louis has some of the most unique and creative businesses around. These restaurants, bars, and other venues bring life to the community in a way that cannot be ignored – providing entertainment, delicious food, and outstanding art for all to enjoy!
