JWB Real Estate Capital has submitted a plan to the city of Arlington regarding their renovation project at College Park, formerly known as Town & Country Shopping Center. There will be an outdoor food court and park made from shipping containers, two apartment buildings added to the existing mall, public open space for recreational purposes, out parcels for additional businesses and shops near University Boulevard along with an Ellianos coffee shop in front of it all. After acquiring the 67-year-old center back in August 2019 for $5.08 million this past year; they can now make these plans come to fruition starting with their 17,733 sq ft food court located on its southwestern corner!
Alex Sifakis, President of JWB, announced on September 9th that the two apartment buildings are home to 80-100 units spread across three floors. The square footage for each floor is approximately 14,400 and individual unit sizes will range from 600 to 750 sq. ft.... They sit south of an already established McDonald’s eatery and BP gas station in close proximity to Ellianos Coffee near its entrance into University Boulevard–Ellianos currently runs one location in Jacksonville at 1125 Lane Ave. Adjoining this 53-unit building lies roughly 11,269 sqft of public open space available for leisure use or recreational activities.
Alex Sifakis, JWB President, announced that he was searching for a grocery store to be the centerpiece of the shopping center; however, none is noted on the plans. Among those already occupying space at College Park are Dollar General, Annie’s Nails, Arlington Bait & Tackle ABT Fishing, Advance Auto Parts, and Davita Inc., as well as Legacy Ministries. In addition to these business ventures, The Wall has been constructed – an outdoor mural on the south side of this complex facing I-95 which has been adorned by local artists with “Arlington ” artwork. This property is part of Renew Arlington’s Community Redevelopment Zone where city officials hope to instill rejuvenation into their area.
